To zapewne nie jedyna różnica, ale ja na technicznych sprawach się nie skupiam ,a raczej na klimacie, jaki dana muzyka wytwarza. No i skali dźwięku (bo to oczywiste, że nie możemy nazwać metalem czegoś tylko dlatego, że jest głośne).
Mimo wszystko granice gatunkowe zatarły się już dawno temu, więc dzisiejsze "gatunki" są raczej indywidualnymi określeniami dla max 5 zespołów grających podobną muzykę i inspirujących się nawzajem. Dlatego też robić takie podziały jest bez sensu.
Zacytuję bardzo mądrą wypowiedź użytkownika last.fm - CareALotsClouds na temat muzycznego elityzmu. Jest to odpowiedź na zatwardziałego wroga nu metalu, który nazywa go "rakiem, który niszczy metal", niestety Polaka :-/ Przykro mi, ale nieznający ang muszą sobie odpuścić, bo nie mam zamiaru tłumaczyć takiego morza tekstu.

It's down right obvious that elitists have respect for Linkin Park, whilst Iron Maiden is high in everyone's esteem, so what are you concerned about? Isn't that what matters to you?
Are you concerned for little fourteen year old boys wearing Slipknot t-shirts claiming to be metal fans? Why bother? You say it bothers you that people these days think Linkin Park is metal, but what are these people to you?
I think elitism stinks. First, everyone should be tolertant of others music tastes, no matter how lowly esteemed it is in your opinion. If they like it, what's the problem? If they call it 'Nu-metal', who cares. That's the name of the genre. It is only the younger generation that apply it to such music, and it has to be accepted that music taste changes between generations. Not as many people are listening to Iron Maiden anymore because, guess what, they are not releasing material to the mainstream top 40.
Teenagers musical taste is mainly attributed by the top 40. Rarely does a teenager seek out music out of the mainstream, rarely does a teenager seek out music from the 80's. Why are you surprised?
It's happening with many genres at the moment, not just metal, because the clock is always ticking, and as long as it ticks, things change.
I mean, your main problem seems to be that the word 'metal' is in the title 'nu-metal'; I just don't get that. Don't you think that it is what it says? This is the new age of metal? That metal has evolved by branching out to other genres such as hip-hop and pop? It's natural. Look at classical music for example. There can only be so many recordings of 'Un Bel Di' and 'The Four Seasons', so what has happened? It has evolved - because a lot has been done already. There is a new genre called 'Classical Crossover'. That does not make it the end of classical music, however. Whilst Classical Crossover exists, so does the pedigree of classical. Whilst 'Nu-metal' exists, so does pedigree metal. They can co-exist and they do.
Put it this way, elderly people are reminising that when they were young, they had 'real rock' such as Buddy Holly and the Beatles. Who do the young people of the day think they are calling Bon Jovi and Aerosmith rock?! What fools! How dare they call that 'noise' rock! But it is, isn't it? It was 80's rock? It was rock at the time, even if it wasn't rock in the 60's. The genre of rock evolved, just like every genre of music there is.
The world is not stuck in a time warp. You are only twenty-two and you are already moaning. |
